A longer sunrise, without bringing your phone to bed.
If the point of buying a separate alarm is to leave your phone outside the bedroom, choose a clock you can configure on the device itself. “Phone-free at bedtime” and “no app needed” are different promises.
The Lumie Shine 300 and Glow 150, plus Philips HF3520/60 and HF3650/60, use on-device controls. The Shine 300 is the starting point if flexible sunrise timing and weekly scheduling are your priorities. The HF3520 is worth comparing if FM radio and a familiar light-and-sound alarm are enough.
Removing the app moves all setup onto physical buttons or touch controls. Owner feedback for several standalone models includes complaints about changing settings. That does not make an app preferable for everyone; it makes the manual and button layout worth checking before purchase.
A fading sunset and dimmable light can be useful even without streamed audio. The HF3650 adds a guided breathing feature, while the Lumie models provide built-in sound choices. Decide which functions you expect to use on an ordinary Tuesday, rather than buying every feature available.
A sunrise alarm is a preference, not a promise that every sleeper will wake to light. Check what the exact model does after a power interruption and use an independent backup alarm for an important early start until you understand your own response. Do not confuse a settings-memory battery with full battery operation.
