A better morning starts with a better-informed choice.
Our decision method

Start with the morning you need.

Choose the feature that solves your routine first. Then weigh the compromise. These are researched matches based on the exact US models below.

Four practical starting points

Your routineWhat mattersModel to compareWhy it fitsThe compromise
Different weekday and weekend wake times, without an appA saved weekly schedule with on-device setupLumie Bodyclock Shine 300Daily and weekly scheduling, with a published 15–90-minute sunrise range.More settings to learn than a basic daily alarm.
A standalone sunrise and FM radioOn-device alarm controls and built-in radioPhilips SmartSleep HF3520/60The HF3520/60 combines a 30-minute colored sunrise, five sounds and FM radio.Settings stay on the device; it does not offer app routines or streaming audio.
One system for bedtime and morning routinesApp customization with bedside controls for saved routinesHatch Restore 3Restore 3 combines the sunrise alarm and bedtime routines. Hatch+ expands the included content.App and Wi-Fi setup are part of the system. Expanded Hatch+ content has an optional recurring cost.
A sunrise longer than half an hourAn adjustable duration that explicitly extends beyond 30 minutesLumie Bodyclock Shine 300The published 15–90-minute range lets you choose a longer transition.Duration does not establish light output at your pillow or prove you will wake more easily.

Use the criteria in this order

  1. Controls: decide whether setup must happen on the clock or can use an app.
  2. Scheduling: distinguish a repeating daily alarm from saved weekday and weekend times.
  3. Sunrise: compare documented duration options, then look for evidence about bedside light output.
  4. Audio and membership: separate included alarm functions from optional paid content.
  5. Price: compare current offers for the same regional model after the essential requirements are met.

Why we do not give these models a numerical score

A sound count and a sunrise duration cannot establish light quality, ease of use or whether a lamp will wake a particular sleeper. We have not run firsthand tests. Our recommendation explains a feature match and its tradeoff instead of converting specifications into a performance rating.

How the next evidence will be collected

Our planned firsthand checks cover setup steps, changing and re-arming alarms, dark-room display behavior, sunrise timing, bedside light measurements and controlled photo or audio samples. Any published results will identify the exact model, settings, room and measurement method. Manufacturer images remain credited as manufacturer images.
